West Salem Business Association
November 9, 2016
Meeting called to order at 12:00 p.m. by President Aaron Dienger. After introductions and buffet lunch, the regular meeting commenced. West Salem High School Counselor Julie Arentz presented student job shadowing opportunities to the membership, and Mike Herro of Xcel Energy discussed solar panel subscription levels and costs.
Minutes and Treasurer’s Report
Secretary Teresa Schnitzler’s minutes of the October meeting were distributed, and Treasurer Patty Gjertsen’s Association bank balance report was distributed. The Association bank balance is $5,308.25. Celebrate West Salem bank balance is $1,129.97, flowerpot account balance is $1,637.19, and Winter Wonderland balance is $512.57 after expenses. There are currently 94 paid members.
Motion by Sherri Sinniger, seconded by Denise Jones to approve the minutes and the treasurer’s report as presented. Motion approved.
Annual Downtown Trick or Treating and Trunk or Treating Events
Downtown Trick or Treating and the West Salem Park & Recreation Department’s Village Park Trunk or Treat were both again successful events. The membership appreciated Leonard Street being closed for the event.
Board of Directors Member Opportunities
President Dienger stated there are one or two positions open on the Board of Directors for next year.
Business After 5
Bethany St. Joseph Mill Street Manor and Salem Terrace will hold Business After 5 on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. The Heider Center and the West Salem School District will hold a Business After 5 on Wednesday, December 7.
Spotlight of the Month
Aaron Dienger and Edward Jones were chosen as the December Spotlight Business of the Month.
Motion by Nicole Vidal, seconded by Patty Gjertsen to adjourn the meeting at 12:43 p.m.
